Iron Pyrites cubes showing classic cubic formation. Each Cube Aprrox Dimensions: 1.3 x 1.3 x 1.3cm. Natural dull metallic luster. Each cube unique. May differ slightly from image shown These well defined, natural (unpolished), cubic crystals are from a classic collectors location in Navajun, Spain. The mineral pyrite, or iron pyrite, its metallic luster and pale-to-normal, brass-yellow hue have earned it the nickname fool's gold due to many miners mistakening it for the real thing. Pyrite or Iron Pyrites is iron Sulphide. FeS2. represents the prototype compound of the crystallographic pyrite structure. A major identifier, useful in the field, is the streak, as the powdered mineral smells of sulfur. The structure is simple cubic.
